Our Vocation, Values and Vision

Mission Statement (Vocation)

By His grace the passion of New Heights Reformed Baptist Fellowship is to glorify God and enjoy Him forever.

We believe that it is God's will for New Heights Reformed Baptist Fellowship to become a fully-functioning biblical community, grounded in faith, marked by a deepening love for God, devoted to one another, and committed to extending knowledge of His infinite goodness to our neighbours and throughout the world. We believe God will be glorified through our faithful and Spirit-empowered labour as Christ graciously employs us in the building of His Kingdom in this generation and generations to come.

Spiritual Values

The Fellowship of the Believers

42 And they devoted themselves to the apostles' teaching and the fellowship, to the breaking of bread and the prayers. (ESV)

At New Heights Community Fellowship we value what the early church valued. If our church is to become and function as a community of faith we believe that it will be because of God working through us as we live by the same biblically-based values that shaped the New Testament church. Therefore, we affirm the centrality of the local church in God's plan of salvation through the following spiritual values.

We value . . .

The Apostle's Teaching

Exegetical teaching of the Bible as the inerrant, inspired Word of God that leads to faith in Christ and lives pleasing to God.

Fellowship

A community of faith in Christ, co-labouring for the kingdom of God, committed to one another, in all spiritual and material needs.

The Breaking of Bread

Reverent, contrite and sincere worship of God, in spirit and in truth, as individuals, as families and as a gathered body.

Prayer

A sense of utter dependence on God that evidences itself in frequent and regular individual, family and corporate prayer.

Our challenge is to remain true to these values. To that end, we offer to hear and respond to any Biblically reasoned criticism that we are not remaining true to these values.

Our Vision

Our vision is to see the Apostles' Teaching valued in our community of faith through:

  • lives shaped by the Apostles Teaching through:
    • exegetical preaching in our Lord's Day Worship meetings
    • small group teaching
    • church based learning (CBL); e.g. BCNZ, CBT, etc.
    • one-to-one discipleship
    • raising home-grown Godly leaders
    • raising Godly families with an understanding of biblical roles of each member

Our vision is to see Fellowship valued in our community of faith through:

  • the living out of Acts 2:42-47
  • the building of authentic relationships within the community of faith
  • the voluntary sharing of resources to meet physical and spiritual needs of one another  - [strategy for small groups]
  • the establishing of vibrant fellowship groups for the purpose of teaching and caring for each others needs and reaching the lost

Our vision is to see the Breaking of Bread (Worship) valued in our community of faith by:

  • engendering whole-of-life worship (Rom 12:1-2)
  • corporate worship that centres on the supremacy of God
  • making no concession to reverence in our worship
  • embracing simplicity in our worship (Keep It Simple Saints)

Our vision is to see Prayer valued in our community of faith as we instil an awareness of our total dependency on God that results in a continual attitude of prayer.

Our vision is to see the centrality of the local church in God's plan of salvation valued in our community of faith by becoming a base for reaching new families and regions with the Gospel either by planting new fully-functioning churches or by strengthening existing churches.
